Cooperation with research institutes
CEC's cooperation with research institutes is an important basis for the ongoing optimization and improvement of our NAVIGATOR coating systems. CEC's involvement in the following exemplary projects gives an impression of the field of research at CEC.
ION OPTICS (3D) PRINTING
High-performance grids in metal 3D printing (RIM3D)
funding code: ZW3-87011701; period: 10.04. to 09.10.2024
In the RIM3D project, the advantages of additive manufacturing for the production of extraction grid systems are to be investigated together with the cooperation partner Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V.. The lattice elements made of titanium are usually produced using high-precision machining.
EFFICIENT NANOLAMINATES WITH IBS
HYpO - Application of hybrid materials for spectral range expansion in optical applications
funding code: 03XP0377A, period 01.04.21 bis 30.04.2024
As part of the HYpO project (funding code: 03XP0377A, period 01.04.21-30.04.2024), Cutting Edge Coatings has been working on a prototype for the production of so-called quantized nanolaminates (QNL) using ion beam sputtering (IBS).
IN-SITU HOMOGENEITY REGULATOR
Development of an in-situ uniformity measuring device and controller for an IBS process to improve coating thickness uniformity
funding code: ZW3-85183173; period: 14.10. to 31.12.2022
The aim of the cooperation project was to develop an in-situ uniformity measuring device that allows the coating thickness distribution present in an IBS coating process to be continuously determined automatically during the process. This information was to be used in order to achieve the optimum configuration of the coating system for very good uniformity more quickly initially and then regularly adjust or readjust it during the process, monitor it live and document it continuously.
